A place
for artists

Surf Point Foundation

Surf Point Foundation is an arts organization committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive community where members from all backgrounds can thrive in an inspiring and respectful environment. After a new brand strategy, visual identity, and communications plan, they’re ready to bring POC, queer, and female artists the resources and attention they need to thrive.

“The experience we had with Danny was terrific. He dove into the project headfirst, first getting a sense of the textures, experience, and legacy of our organization and then expertly guiding and working collaboratively with the board and staff through a sensitive design process. It could not have gone more smoothly and we are thrilled with the results. Danny removes his ego from the process while adhering to his strong design and communications experience. We have continued to work with Danny on design, communications, and website development. We couldn't recommend him more highly.”

Strategy & Communications

I worked with Surf Point Foundation from its inception to develop a cohesive brand strategy, analyze the competitive landscape, and create an ongoing communications plan.

Preserving a Legacy

The challenge of Surf Point was to tell a history without being beholden to the past. How do you move forward with progressive ideals and a modern mission while respecting the women who began the work. Digging deep into the archives (literally opening up boxes in the pre-renovated Smart-Hallam residence), we began our brand strategy with how the past influences the future and where we find our place in it.

Brand Identity & website Design

From initial moodboards to final style guide, we drew inspiration from Surf Point’s iconic 70’s modern architecture, the natural coastal environment, the global art world, and found items within the Smart-Hallam residence.

Using a simple squarespace template, for ease of management and editing, we created a practical and usable website that mirrors the intimate feeling of receiving personalized stationary—a favorite method of communication with Mary-Leigh & Beverly.
